Tissue Favors & Paint Chip Tags

If you have any paint chips laying around they an be reused to make colorful tags for gifts and favors.

Materials

• tissue
• paper towel rolls
• ribbon
• paint chips for tags or decorative papers
• scissors

Directions

Fold the tissue in half and then center the roll on the tissue

Placing the tube close to the edge of the tissue roll the tissue tightly around the tube

On one end stuff the tissue up into the roll. Flip the tube around and add candy and small treats in to the tube.

Tie a ribbon to seal off the candy right at the top of the tube. Add name tag to the favor.

Vellum and Star Decorations

Materials

• vellum, cut as many as you want into 4" x 6" pieces
• decorative or construction paper
• glue
• scissors
• ribbon

Directions

• fold down 1/2" on one end of each of the vellum pieces
• cut decorative shapes; stars and or moons
• glue shapes to the front of the vellum, the folded side is the back
• place ribbon under the fold and the glue in place

Felt Favor Bags

These wool felt favor bags are nice and easy to make for EId goody bags. They can later be used for the little ones treasures.

Materials

• All you need is: a little felt, thread, needle & scissors
• sewing machine optional

Directions

• Cut 2 - 5" x 5" pieces of felt for the bag
• Cut 2 felt strips, for the handles
• On one of the 5" x 5: pieces you can sew decorative stitches, glue or sew on shapes like stars and moons or leave plain.
• Pin the bag pieces together on three sides and sew, either by hand or machine.
• Trim close to the sewn edge.
• Sew the ends of the strips on to the top of the bag, one strip for each side.

The handle on the red bag is braided. To braid the handle cut thin long strips of felt, braid and then sew onto the inner sides of the bag.

 

Encouraging Word Prints

Small Canvas Prints

I really like the pattern of text and the idea of using text as art. With this project I was thinking about simplicity, in both  design and concept. With the text I wanted to create a reminder to myself; to be grateful, to be thankful, to do good. Maybe, if these words are visually in my life then it's possible that even when I'm not consciously seeing them they are making an impression on my heart. 

 

 

The text was done with the computer and then I printed  it on cotton fabric on my printer. The fabric was then stretched  over a small thin 5" x 5"  frame. The idea could even made simpler by printing onto card stock and then framed or just push pinned onto the wall.

Paper Lantern

This lean lantern is a modern version of the traditional paper lantern. 

 

 

 

Petiet Layered Tissue Designs

This version is similar to the earlier "Layered Tissue Design" except that each shape is cut out separately and is only about 3"- 4" across.

Paper Balls

Materials

• card stock
• hole punch
• scissors or paper cutter
• brass clips (2 per ball)

Directions

• Cut card stock into strips (Large) 12" x 1" (Medium) 9" x 1" (Small) 6" x 12", cut 8 strips for each ball
• Stack the strips on top of each other making sure to align the corners
• Punch a hole through the stack in the center about 1/2" from the bottom, repeat with the other end
• Insert a brass clip through the hole punch and fold back tabs, repeat on the other side
• Open and separate the strips to form a ball.

Spinning with the breeze.

I inserted one of Silver Envelope's (www.silverenvelope.com)  Ramadan Craft tags into the center of the large Paper Ball with thread. Not only did the ball spin but the tag twirls inside the ball.

Falling Star Garland

Another possibility for the falling stars, here the star strands are tied together to make long garlands.

Decorative Star Strands

This craft would be a nice decoration for Ramadan or Eid but could also be a wonderful decoration for a child's room.

Materials

• sewing machine
• paper 
• star Pattern (your pattern could be anything; moon phases, flowers, butterflies, etc.)
• scissors
• curtain rod or dowel

Directions

• Use the pattern to cut your shapes and then cut lots and lots.
• Use the sewing machine and sew strands of stars to the desired length
• Tie the stands on the rod to form a curtain of stars

 

Ramadan Vellum Garland

This very easy garland is just paper, beads & ribbon.

Directions

• On the computer design and print the text on vellum or card stock. You could also hand write the words.
• Cut into desired shapes, these are made into oval shapes.
• Punch holes on each side.
• Thread the ribbon down into the hole punch and bring it back up on the other side.
• Add a bead and then add another paper.
